X-rated sights in Sac

Once again, we have reached the infamous letter X, which leaves me no choice but to delve down deep into Sacramento’s dark side. That’s right: today’s hot spots are X-rated and eager to please.

To anyone who is under the legal age of consent, please avert your eyes now by hopping over to one of my other A to Z posts. Although I’m sure you’ve already seen much more (and likely worse) on every other site on the World Wide Web, I wouldn’t want to be accused of leading minors astray.

Walking in William Land Park

If you’re planning on going to William Land Park today, be prepared: it’s the 25th annual SPCA Doggy Dash and Bark in the Park festival!

(Actually, since I’m posting this a bit after 2 PM, the festivities should just be wrapping up, but if you’re seeing an unusual number of dogs, that would be why.)

William Land Regional Park, also known to locals simply as Land Park, is one of the city’s biggest and best known parks. Aside from being a large (166.5 acres!) and luxurious park where you can hang out, enjoy a picnic, cool off in the wading pool, jog or stroll around, play basketball, softball or soccer, you’ll also find these attractions within the park:

And if those still weren’t enough reasons to visit, well, you might just be juvenile enough to be reeled in by this very unfortunately named softball field:

Voyage to the vineyards

While you’ve undoubtedly heard of Napa Valley, which is in close proximity to Sacramento, you may not have heard that our city boasts some vineyards of its own.

Playing off of yesterday’s nod to the underground, the Underground Tasting Room (900 2nd St) is a great place to start your journey to wine country. Located in Old Sacramento, it’s within walking distance of lots of downtown hotels, so you don’t even have to leave the comforts of the city to enjoy some great wine. (Please note that they’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and plan accordingly.)
